Yesterday’s Gone. This is Why Tomorrow’s Better.

Yesterday's GoneIf you’re a writer, you’ve probably heard that eBooks are a really big deal right now.

They are.

And that big deal is about to get a whole lot BIGGER.

There are authors moving millions of downloads on the back of Kindle and other eBook readers, without having to stand on the weary shoulders of traditional publishing.

That’s remarkable, amazing, inspiring; a revolution.

The playing field has been leveled for the first time in history.

For someone like me, and maybe you, this is a game changer.

I went online because I wanted to develop an audience for my fiction, without having to stand in line or beg for permission. Yet, fiction is a difficult way to make a living, especially when no one knows your name.

And while I saw the sea change coming, I certainly didn’t expect eBooks to outsell print as soon as they did.

Kindle changed EVERYTHING.

When I first read the self-publishing sales numbers back in January, it was game over for my old way of doing business. I had my interests spread all over, but the thrill of knowing I could make a living doing what I love most led me to narrow my focus and point my admittedly large nose towards full-time fiction.

And that’s why Dave and I wrote Yesterday’s Gone.

It’s a tremendous story, but it’s more than that. Yesterday’s Gone doesn’t just straddle genres, it creates a business model that writers like you can easily follow.

If you can tell a story, with reasonably strong voice, and have the ability to craft a strong hook or cliffhanger, you can build a business, rather than simply “writing an eBook.”

This is something Dave and I feel strongly about, and we’re eager to share our experience with you.

This is a BIG project and we’re going to keep you updated as to how well it’s doing because it’s highly relevant to every writer out there.

The keys to Kindle are the keys to your kingdom.

We’re going to spill the beans on everything: HowYesterday’s Gone was put together, how we marketed our finished product, and what our sales are looking like through the end of the year.

Please share this page with your friends, or anyone you think can help make this awesome project everything it deserves to be.

Yesterday is gone, but our collective tomorrow is about to get a whole lot cooler!

I’m so totally loving this ‘serial model’ that you’ve come up with. Back in June there was a ‘niche amnesty day’ – which was a cool idea btw – and on NA Day you got to post about something not related to your blog, maybe something personal.

I posted about how I wanted to write fiction again. (Haven’t written for 3 or 4 years). I’m pretty busy right through to the end of November – but once I hit December I’m gonna write myself 500-1000 words of fiction a day. I’ve got something similar to Yesterday’s Gone lined up – though it’s more episodic than serialized. And I’ve already outlined a couple of episodes.

Your model really made me sit up and see how someone could build an audience – and then of course it’s Game On.
You don’t know what this will mean to me – actually you probably do, because I’m sensing it means the same to you. So your continuing posts serve as inspiration for me – if for no other reason, please keep them coming!
