Self-Publishing

Are you waiting for permission to become a published author?

Stop.

Perhaps it’s cultural breeding that’s taught so many writers they must wait to get hand-picked, or perhaps it’s simply unfortunate instinct.

Maybe, once upon a time, that instinct was necessary.

But not anymore.

You don’t need to ask for permission, and you certainly don’t need to have your authority anointed by a publisher, talk show host, or media producer.

Reject the impulse to wait for permission. Sit at the keyboard, start writing, and create the words and worlds that will give you the creative freedom you’ve always dreamed of.

There’s a reason BIG authors are sauntering off from half-million dollar advances. The stink on self-publishing is gone.

Self-published authors who know how to tell a good story, get a high-quality version of that story to market, then build an audience of eager fans who will buy it (and tell all their friends), well, those writers can write any future they want.

It’s all about BUZZ: one person telling another, “You have to read this!”

Modern authors have what no other writers in history have: access to an instant, global audience, without a middleman. Authors have the technology to connect directly with their target market, and the street team to get their work in front of as many people as possible.

That’s why more and more authors are asking the obvious question: If publishers are quickly losing touch, and becoming increasingly reliant on authors who can do their own marketing, why should writers endure the long, frustrating, and seemingly impossible quest to find an agent and selling their work to a traditional publisher?

They don’t. And that’s what makes right now such a beautiful present and promising future for today’s writers.

It’s a future I’m proud to be a part of. In 2010, my small publishing imprint, co-owned with David Wright, will release a dozen titles. Some of those titles are serials, with multiple releases.

I love being a writer, but consider myself a publisher first. There is nothing in the business world that interests me more or has a greater impact on my present and future prosperity. Self-publishing is a powerful part of my future and I’m thrilled to help you make it a powerful part of yours.

Our series of posts on self-publishing will show you what you need to know to write your dreams to reality, whether you want to publish the fiction burning inside you, or the non-fiction that will help you grow into an authority in your industry.

We look forward to sharing everything we know, and will be adding posts to the self-publishing section as they are written.
